Beware of the Innocence (2003)
Een groot en zwaar werk; niet alleen zwaar door het gebruikte lood, maar ook door de symboliek.
Het gaat over werkelijke onschuld en over gespeelde onschuld.
Het gaat over onschuldig opgesloten mensen, zoals in de Duitse strafkamp in Vught in WO II.
(Het schapenvacht als teken van onschuld; de loden omlijsting als symbool van het strafkamp)
Het gaat over personen, die zich onschuldig voordoen maar hun praktijken naar de buitenwereld afschermen.
(Ook hier het schapenvacht als symbool van onschuld en de loden lijst als symbool voor afscherming door gefingeerde beroepen en voor de afscherming voor de buitenwereld door elektronische bewaking en versleuteling van elektronische communicatie.)
Het gaat over de waarschuwing voor iedereen om de onschuld op echtheid te waarderen en te onderzoeken en om gewaarschuwd te zijn voor valstrikken van valse beloftes.
(hier verbeeld door prikkeldraad en NATO-band; vermomd in hemels blauwe kleur, maar blijvend ongemeen scherp en verwondend.)
Dit in lood gekaderde schapenvacht is gemonteerd op een met Antwerps-duivenwit beschilderd MDF-plaat en achter glas ingelijst in een in Antwerps-wit geschilderde lijst, vervaardigd door Lijstenmakerij Monart.
Afmeting 67x82x6cm, aan de achterzijde voorzien van een dubbel ophangsysteem.
Het werk is rechts onderin aan de voorzijde gesigneerd.

Beware of the Innocence (2003)
A big and heavy work; not only heavily due to the lead used, but also because of the symbolism.
It is about real innocence and about played innocence.
It is about innocent people, like in the German penal camp in Vught in WW II.
(The sheepskin as a sign of innocence, the lead as a symbol of the penal camp)
It is about persons who act innocently but shield their practices from the outside world.
(Again the sheepskin as a symbol of innocence and the lead list as a symbol for shielding by fictitious professions and for shielding the outside world by electronic monitoring and encryption of electronic communication.)
It is about the warning for everyone to appreciate and explore the innocence of authenticity and to be warned of traps of false promises.
(represented here by barbed wire and NATO band disguised in heavenly blue color, but persistently sharp and wounding.)
This lead-framed sheepskin is mounted on an MDF-slab painted with Antwerp pigeon white and framed behind glass in an Antwerp-white painted frame, made by Lijstmakerij Monart.
Dimensions 67x82x6cm, at the rear with a double suspension system.
The work is signed at the bottom right at the front.
